Loose or Sagging Skin: Treatment Options in Clarkson

Skin that's lost its firmness after weight loss, pregnancy, or simply time. A few non-surgical treatments can genuinely help. Here's how they compare, honestly.

Why It Happens

What's Actually Going On

Skin gets its firmness from collagen and elastin, the structural proteins that keep it taut and springy. Weight loss, pregnancy, sun exposure and the natural ageing process all reduce how much of these your skin holds onto, and once skin has stretched or thinned, it doesn't always snap back on its own.

The good news is that several non-surgical treatments can meaningfully improve firmness by encouraging your body to rebuild collagen. The honest news is that they have real limits. They work gradually, they suit mild to moderate skin laxity best, and none of them can remove significant excess skin the way surgery can. If your skin is only somewhat loose, that's usually not an issue. If you're dealing with a large amount of excess skin, often the case after major weight loss, we'll tell you plainly if we think a surgical consultation is worth exploring alongside, or instead of, what we offer here.

This page exists to help you understand your options before you book anything at our Clarkson clinic, not to talk you into whichever treatment is easiest to sell.

Comparing Your Options

Three Treatments, Three Depths

All three of these treatments aim to firm the skin by stimulating collagen. The main difference between them is how deep they work and how the energy actually gets there.

RF skin tightening applies radiofrequency energy at the surface with a handheld device, no needles at all. It's the gentlest starting point. RF microneedling uses that same radiofrequency energy, but delivers it through fine needles to a controlled depth within the skin, making it a more intensive option for texture and firmness. HIFU takes a different approach altogether, using focused ultrasound to reach deeper tissue layers beneath the skin. It's often the go-to when the goal is a lifting effect specifically on the face, neck or jawline.

Which one fits best depends on where your concern is, how pronounced it is, and what depth of treatment you're comfortable with. That's what a consultation is for. We'd rather talk it through with you in person than have you guess from a webpage.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on where the loose skin is, how pronounced it is, and how you feel about needles versus a purely surface treatment. There isn't one correct answer for everyone, which is exactly why we don't book anyone into a treatment plan sight unseen. A short consultation lets us look at the area, talk through your history and goals, and recommend the option (or combination) that actually makes sense for your skin.
